CROOKED ARROWS opened in limited release this weekend to 55 screens along the East Coast and MANY of you shared your positive thoughts about the film experience on Facebook and Twitter - thank you!

The weekend box office numbers are in: CA debuted to a 'surprisingly solid' (via EW.com) $280,000 averaging an impressive $5,100 per screen.

How does this compare with other films in the country? Taking a look at the weekend results from BoxOfficeMojo.com, CROOKED ARROWS was the 10th highest rank film in the US by per-theatre-average. Assuming this average holds, it's is looking at a great June 1st opening.

Since CROOKED ARROWS is an independent feature film with a limited marketing budget, it needs help from folks like you to spread the word. Strategic Film Partners Acquires Int'l Rights to ARROWS

CROOKED ARROWS released this weekend in some East Coast cities and expands nationwide/Canada on June 1. For international fans, some good news has been announced: Strategic Film Partners has acquired rights to sell/distribute the film over-seas. Lacrosse is not only growing rapidly in the US, but internationally as well. This July marks the 2012 World Championships of the Federation of International Lacrosse.

Strategic Film Partners has acquired international sales rights to the feature film Crooked Arrows starring Brandon Routh (Superman Returns). The film, which depicts the story of an underdog American lacrosse team, was directed by Steve Rash (The Buddy Holly Story, Bring It On 3 & 4) and opens in limited engagements in the U.S. on May 18^th, expanding with a wider national and Canadian release on June 1^st. The timing of the release is significant as global interest in the sport is at an all time high due to the upcoming 2012 World Championships of the Federation of International Lacrosse in July in Finland.

Crooked Arrows is the first mainstream lacrosse movie. It pays homage to the fast growing sport’s history by featuring a Native American high school team as the heroic underdogs, who rediscover their spirit when paired with a reluctant coach (Routh). Routh plays the mixed blood son of the nation’s chairman who has returned to his reservation to expand the community’s fledgling casino, but his traditionalist father and the tribal council insist that he must first re-examine his spirit before he can undertake his enterprise. Together with his skeptical team, he leads them on an unlikely journey to the New York prep league championship game.

In addition to Routh, the movie stars Gil Birmingham (Twilight), Crystal Allen, Chelsea Ricketts, Dennis Ambriz, and Tom Kemp. The lacrosse players are actual lacrosse players from around the country. The Native high school team was cast by Sports Studio’s Mark Ellis (Invincible, Miracle, Game Plan) in a visit to Syracuse last spring with all of the team’s players originating from the Six Nations Confederacy in upstate New York, with most being Onondaga, Tuscarora, or Mohawk.
The movie, which was shot in Massachusetts last August, has attracted substantial attention from the international lacrosse world, which is booming in several markets under the Federation of International Lacrosse. Leagues and teams from the UK, Spain, France, Germany Netherlands, Turkey, Israel, Russia, Japan and Australia have all made multiple inquiries about the film’s international plans.

“This is a fun family-oriented movie that should play very well overseas,” said Strategic Film Partners’ CEO Alex Barder. “It’s much more than a typical sports picture, with several positive messages about finding one’s family and spirit and a father and son reconnecting. I think people will laugh and cry and be thrilled by the action, whether they know lacrosse or not.”

From its first stages of development, the picture organically attracted widespread support in the both the lacrosse and Native American worlds. Sponsors include Reebok, US Lacrosse, and the Onondaga Nation, which also made a substantial investment in the $10M movie. The film has also gained endorsements from Inside Lacrosse Magazine, Major League Lacrosse, National Lacrosse League, and dozens of the sport’s top players, including Paul Rabil.

Producers J. Todd Harris (Bottle Shock, The Kids Are All Right) and Mitchell Peck (Priest) led the charge to put the production and P&A financing together, along with former All-American Jeff McCormick, a Boston-based venture capitalist who led his 1983 Syracuse lacrosse team to the NCAA championship. Over fifty investors, most of them lacrosse enthusiasts, participated in the film’s financing.

Branded Pictures Entertainment is releasing the film in conjunction with Freestyle Releasing and Pandemic Marketing. May 18^th will see a release on 55 screens in 17 cities and June 1^stshould see an expansion to over 400 screens in over 75 cities.

CBS has officially unveiled their fall line-up, with PARTNERS, "a comedy about two very different life-long best friends and business partners and their significant others," receiving the coveted timeslot of Mondays at 8:30PM following the hit comedy HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and leading into the break-out comedy 2 BROKE GIRLS.

The series also stars Dave Krumholtz, Michael Urie, Sophia Bush, and will feature guest appearances by Molly Shannon.

PARTNERS is a comedy based on the lives of creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, about two life-long best friends and business partners whose “bromance” is tested when one of them is engaged to be married. Joe (David Krumholtz) is an accomplished architect who leads with his head and not his heart, especially in his love life. That’s in stark contrast to his gay co-worker, Louis (Michael Urie), who is spontaneous, emotional and prone to exaggeration. Both have found joy in their love lives: Joe is newly engaged to Ali (Sophia Bush), a beautiful and sophisticated jewelry designer, while Louis is dating Wyatt (Brandon Routh), a vegan nurse who Louis insists is just a promotion away from becoming a doctor. As news of Joe’s engagement settles, time will tell if their business and personal bond can adapt to the addition of two other important relationships. Emmy Award winners David Kohan and Max Mutchnick are executive producers for Warner Bros. Television. Emmy Award winner James Burrows directed the pilot.

Continuing this month's deluge of Brandon-related news are the CROOKED ARROWS premieres in Baltimore, MD (with Chelsea Ricketts and Gil Birmingham) last Friday and Boston, MA (with Crystal Allen) today (view photos and more).

In addition to meeting the press, Brandon took some time to visit some lucky kids at the Boston Children's Hospital (view photos).

Boston's Fox25 interviewed Brandon and Crystal Allen:

The Baltimore Sun interviewed the cast and crew on the red carpet, detailing the long journey it took for the film to finally make it to the big screen.

"My grandmother on my father's side would talk of what little she knew," Routh said. "She kept that spirit alive and had a lot of Native American heart. She always seemed a little wise beyond her years; her spiritual presence was just a little different and deeper than other people's." Routh seized the chance to explore that aspect of his history.

The Boston Herald:

“Lacrosse Man: Don’t cross him!” Brandon joked, while in town yesterday to premiere the film with his co-star, Crystal Allen. “He would beat all the other Marvel characters.”

According to Deadline.com, Brandon has been cast in a half-hour comedy pilot for CBS called PARTNERS starring his TABLE FOR THREE co-star Sophia Bush and UGLY BETTY's Michael Urie.

The multicamera comedy, from Will & Grace creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, centers on lifelong friends and business partners —architects Charlie, who is straight, and Louis (Urie), who is gay. Routh, repped by UTA and Main Title, will play Louis’ steady partner, a former alcoholic, club-hopping model, now a sober, vegan nurse.

A personal story of two lifelong friends and their business partners. Architects Charlie and Louis' friendship has lasted longer than either of their romantic relationships and almost seems like a weird marriage. Seven days ago I had the distinct privilege of viewing a sneak peek at the trailer for the upcoming Brandon Routh/Courtney Ford-starrer MISSING WILLIAM, and independent film shot in late 2010 helmed by Australian director Kenn MacRae (winner of the Australian version of "Project Greenlight").

Today, the official poster was unveiled onto the film's official Facebook page. Please "Like" them and visit them on the web at MissingWilliammovie.com.

In the coming weeks, the film will be shopped around by INFERNO, a renowned international sales and distribution company, at the Cannes Film Market (press release), so stay tuned for theatrical release dates news.

MISSING WILLIAM is a romantic drama about the love that lives through loss. The story follows Abby, a thirty-something artist living in Rhode Island caring for her husband William after a tragic incident. As she attempts to coax him back to health, James, her childhood sweetheart and unrequited love attempts to coax her back into living life again for herself. The world premiere of the May 18th (select cities)/June 1 (nationwide) release CROOKED ARROWS (view photos) was held at the Oncenter in Syracuse, NY to a sold-out crowd. Joining Brandon on the red carpet were Chelsea Ricketts and Gil Birmingham (who play sister and father, respectively, to Brandon's character coach Joe Logan) and many more.

Throughout the night, fans had been tweeting their photos from the event - these have been rounded-up for easy viewing on Facebook.

Unsurprisingly, initial reactions of the film have been positive - an encouraging sign for many of us who have to wait a little bit longer to see the film on the big screen.

Syracuse University Athletics - Hollywood stars and local dignitaries turned out for the world premiere of “Crooked Arrows” on Wednesday, May 9 at the Crouse Hinds Theater at the OnCenter in Syracuse. Earlier today, I was lucky enough to view a sneak peek of the MISSING WILLIAM movie trailer thanks to someone close to the film. Although not ready for public viewing yet, I can say the following: it's nothing short of amazing - from the performances of the main cast (Brandon Routh, Courtney Ford, Reid Scott, Spencer Grammer) to the breath-taking imagery of the Rhode Island locale.

Trailer notwithstanding, it appears the film is gaining momentum in the theatrical release department. It will be shopped around in at least one major film festival this summer (Cannes Film Market), after which a release date will follow.

The official CROOKED ARROWS website was updated today to reflect its upcoming May 18th theatrical release. Of particular interest is a link to the theatres in which the film will premiere at first. The rest of us will have to sit tight and wait for the film to released across the US on June 1.

Little is known about when MISSING WILLIAM, the independent feature film Brandon and Courtney Ford shot together in Rhode Island in late 2010, will be released. However, there seems to be a bit of movement as of late.

Brandon and Courtney Are Expecting!

People Magazine announced today that Brandon and Courtney Ford are expecting a baby this summer! The couple married in 2007. Courtney recently wrapped up a recurring arc on NBC's PARENTHOOD while Brandon is busy filming PARTNERS, a CBS comedy pilot.

“It’s been so hard keeping the news to ourselves,” says Routh, 32, who’s currently filming the CBS pilot Partners.
“Everyone on set keeps asking, ‘Do you have kids?’ and I’ve had to say, ‘Well … not yet!’ It’s the truth. The baby hasn’t been born yet!”

CROOKED ARROWS Hits May 18

InsideLacrosse.com and LaxMagazine.com have revealed that CROOKED ARROWS is set to be released in the US on May 18th just in time for summer vacation.

The film also stars TWILIGHT's Gil Birmingham.

“It’s really a dream come true,” comments Peck who originally developed the script several years ago. “The world may not have been ready for a lacrosse film ten years ago, but they certainly are now, judging from the huge support we’ve been getting both on line and from communities eager to make sure the movie screens in their cities.”

CROOKED ARROWS Reshoots in LA Plus New Phoots

For the past several days, the CROOKED ARROWS cast and crew reunited to re-shoot some scenes for the movie in the Los Angeles area. Based on pictures trickling in from the set, it appears production is enhancing the big lacrosse finals against their prep school rivals.

Note that re shooting scenes is a very common occurrence in the industry. An extra from the film set claims on the official Facebook page that the cast and crew have reshot a new ending for the film.

Brandon to Play in 2012 ELeague
